CKS College holds career talks with parents


CKS College held a Career Orientation Talk with parents of the Junior and Senior High students at the CKS College Auditorium last February 13, 2016 (Saturday).

Mrs. Eugenia Martin, directress of the English Academic Instruction, welcomed the parents who took the time off their own busy schedules in the interest of their children's careers.

Dr. Raymond Datuon, School of Education Dean and Senior High School Program Head, gave a comprehensive update on the development of the K–12 program.  He clarified issues concerning the opportunities and chances of admission of CKS College students to universities of their choice.  Dr. Datuon also expounded on the different tracks open — ABM, STEM, HUMSS, GA as Sports and Arts — as gateways for students seeking the right career paths. Moreover, he informed the parents of the Memorandum of Agreement between CKS College and De La Salle University that would better prepare CKS College graduates seeking admission to the university.

The guest speaker, Mr. Jun Geronimo, offered essential information on career paths and choices.  The talk was interactive and productive, and gave a better view of the programs available for incoming senior high students.

CKS is CONNECT-ED (DLSU’s Connectivity Program)


On January 22, 2016, Dr. Dory Poa, CKS College President, signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with De La Salle University to align the Senior High School offerings of CKS to the DLSU college courses so that students studying in CKS Grades 11 and 12 can have some of their subjects validated and credited if they go to DLSU for college. Under the MOA, the DLSU will deploy their faculty in CKS College to teach, mentor, certify subjects, and train the teachers beginning June 2016. As part of the agreement, the subjects under the DLSU faculty will be credited for CKSian Senior High School student who will be accepted to DLSU under the STEM and ABM strands.

The signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) was done in De La Salle University at the Office of Dr. Robert C. Roleda, the Vice Chancellor for Academics in the Henry Sy Building. Other CKS officials present during the MOA signing were Dr. Raymond Q. Datuon, Dean of the School of Education and Program Head of the CKS College Senior High School, and Mrs. Cristina A. Monsanto, Coordinator for English Instruction of Senior High School.

   

 

Dr. Datuon Chairs Research Conference Sessions in Harvard


 
Dr. Raymond Q. Datuon, School of Education’s Dean, OIC of Student Life in Narra Campus, and Head of the Faculty Development Office was selected to chair the sessions on Education and Teaching, and Social Sciences and Education in the 2015 International Social Sciences and Education Research Conference held in Harvard Medical School, Boston, Massachusetts on June 9-13, 2015.

As session chair, Dr. Datuon was tasked to moderate the proceedings and introduce the paper presenters of the conference. Likewise, at the end of each presentation, he personally awarded the certificate of participation to the paper presenter. 

Then, he also successfully presented his paper about “The Competing Values Framework of Administrators Among Private Colleges in the National Capital Region”. Numerous scholars from different parts of the world attended the said Research Conference.

 After the Conference, he took advantage of visiting other Higher Education Institutions in Boston such as the Harvard University, Boston University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Northeastern University, Boston College, and Wentworth Institute of Technology. 

 

中正學院教育系中國研究專業碩士課程 黃鳳祝博士開講「民國文學」「中西文化異同」 「東西方文明衝突」知性對話


菲律濱中正學院訊: 本院大學部2015學年度教育系碩士班「中國研究」新課程六月廿九日上午十一時開課。上海同濟大學人文學院哲學美學教授(研究生導師)黃鳳祝博士專程蒞菲講學。

當天上午,本院文史系、教育系學生、本校、他校教師以及菲華著名作家皆到校聆聽大師講學。民國文學的興起始於西方文化傳入中國以後,因而, 要理解五四文學的發展,學員必須對中西文化的交流,以及東西方文明的衝突、異同等都應該備基本的認識, 於是,首堂課黃博士藉梁漱溟對中西文化之異同,綜合中外名家的研究做了分析和概說;更對世界各古文明和宗教的起源、體系、分布、發展等做了一番介紹,並以此為出發點進一步探討西方人、中國人、印度人對文化、文明等基本概念上的不同。

黃博士引述梁漱溟指出了人對生活的基本態度,如: 西方人的奮力向前,積極求取所需;中國人的尋求調和、持中或順應外在的環境,印度人則是背離現實生活本性,竭力抑制個人慾望等等,將學習者導引入民國文學的時代背景,從而瞭解魯迅筆下的阿Q,巴金筆下的覺新、圍城中方鴻漸等人物的行為、思想為何會被塑造成那個樣子。

充實的內容十分吸引人,國際級的學者登壇開講,畢竟不同,令到場聽課者滿載收穫。

中正學院潘露莉校長 禮訪華教中心交流華教心得


(菲律濱中正學院訊)本月8日上午,本校校長潘露莉博士前往菲律賓華文教育中心拜訪,受到華教中心常務副主席黃端明先生等的熱情接待,賓主就新時期菲律賓華文教育發展等問題進行了廣泛交流。

潘校長首先對華教中心喬遷新居,擁有美輪美奐的新辦公場所表示祝賀,並對華教中心長期以來致力推動菲律賓華文教育改革發展做出的卓越貢獻表示欽佩。在談及長期困擾菲律賓華文教育發展的師資問題時,潘校長簡要介紹了中正學院與福建師範大學合作開展了十餘年的“2+2”華文師範教育專業及去年受菲華商聯總會委託舉辦的華語師資培養方案等情況,黃副主席則簡要介紹了華教中心開展了十餘年的“華語師資造血計畫”方案,雙方都感到這些方案對培養本土華文師資意義重大,但也都面臨招生困難的問題,而其中最重要的原因是華文教師這一職業對青年一代缺乏吸引力。潘校長期盼華社領導人能更深入去思考這個問題,能夠凝聚全力,集中華社的資源,提出比較能夠對症的方案,如住房、醫療、養老等現實問題,使廣大華文教師能夠安心從事教育工作、樂於教學。

在談及推行“k+12”教育新方案後,華文教育所面臨的新問題時,潘校長認為這是華文教育發展的新機遇,她說華族母語——閩南話在菲華社會尚有一定的自然語言環境,從小學好閩南話不僅在家裡和菲華社會有用武之地,而且對繼續學好普通話具有很好的促進作用,因此華校應按教育部的新要求將華族母語——閩南話納入課程體系之中,以此進一步推動華文(普通話)教學。潘校長簡要介紹了中正學院今年以來推行普通話、閩南話教學相輔相成的一些做法。黃副主席認為潘校長的意見很有道理,他說,泉笙培幼園在蘇秀康老師的帶領下長期教授閩南話,成效有目共睹,新形勢下閩南話和普通話相互促進的做法可以作為華語教學改革的一種嘗試進行實驗。

訪談中潘校長提出了“k+12”學制推行後,第十一、十二年級華語師資緊缺的問題,黃副主席表示華教中心將竭盡全力,爭取在國務院僑辦的支持下,努力為廣大華校提供更多更好的華文師資。

最後,潘校長還盛情邀請黃副主席及華教中心同仁參加將於今年2月13-14日在中正學院舉辦的“第十一屆國際雙語教學研討會”,黃副主席愉快地接受了邀請。會談結束後,黃副主席還帶領潘校長參觀了“菲律賓華文教育展覽廳”展示廳和華教中心圖書館,並希望中正學院能為即將開始的“菲律賓華文教育史展覽”提供支持與幫助,潘校長表示中正學院一定全力支持。
