Chiang Kai Shek College Joins UNESCO-APNIEVE

Chiang Kai Shek College is now an institutional member of UNESCO-APNIEVE. The APNIEVE stands for Asia Pacific Network for International Education and Values Education. It continues the work of promoting education for sustainable development past the Decade of Education for Sustainable Development (DESD), a UN program which ends in 2014.

Five AP teachers from the CKSC High School English Instruction were present during the 13th National Convention of APNIEVE on May 6-8, 2014 at the Far Eastern University (FEU) Manila. The CKSC delegation was headed by Mrs. Primadona Gelua, Araling Panlipunan (AP) Coordinator together with teachers namely, Ms. Olivia Ileto, Mrs. Rosalinda Paras, Ms. Mary Ann Olaivar, and Mr. Ian Mark Arevalo. This year’s theme focused on “Values for Building Resilient Individuals and Communities.
 
The convention ended with the election of the Board of Directors and regional coordinators. Dr. Maria Lourdes Quisumbing-Baybay of Miriam College and Dr. William Chua of FEU were re-elected to the positions of President and Vice President, respectively. Mrs. Primadona Gelua of Chiang Kai Shek College, though a new member of APNIEVE, was elected NCR regional director along with Rev. Fr. Orlando Aceron, O.P. of Colegio de San Juan de Letran and Sr. Gerolinda Tingson, from La Consolacion College in Novaliches, Quezon City.
