Year 2014 Starts Well for CKSC Students, Alumni

Good news about achievements of CKSC students and alumni augured the start of year 2014!

Clyde Wesley Ang was one of only two Filipino math aces who finished the 2013 Canadian Intermediate Mathematics Contest (CIMC) with perfect scores, leaving 5,867 other participants to trail behind their feat. His classmate, Terence Brian Tsai ranked in the top 25% of all participants in the same contest and he will receive a certificate of distinction. Also, having done well was Andrew Brandon Ong, who will also receive a certificate of distinction in the Canadian Seniors Mathematics Contest (CSMC) for obtaining marks above the cutoff score.

Both CSMC and CIMC were held in November 2013 with participants coming from Canada, China, Hong Kong, India, Kenya, Korea, Kuwait, Malaysia, Netherlands, Singapore, Trinidad and Tobago, Turkey, USA, and the Philippines.

Candy Joy Chua, Jefferson Chua, Ya Lun Zhang, and Jemilyn Kaw were members of the Philippine team that competed and won 4th Prize in the 2nd Chinese Culture Contest (第二届中华文化大赛总结赛) sponsored by the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the People’s Republic of China held in Xiamen, China last December 17 to 30, 2013.

Richard G. Escoto, an alumnus from high school batch 2008, placed 5th in the Electronics Engineering Licensure Examination conducted by the Professional Regulation Commission last December 2013.

Clyde Wesley Ang, representing the Philippines, won big in the Asia Inter-Cities Teenagers Mathematics Contest held in Bogor, West Java, Indonesia last December 27 to 30, 2013. He took the gold medal in individual competition. He was also champion in the team and group competitions. With his excellent feat, he carried the Philippine team to emerge as overall champion.

Last but not least, the CKSC high school wushu team emerged 1st Runner-Up in the Traditional Lion Dance Contest sponsored by the Filipino-Chinese Business Club last January 12, 2014 at Lucky Chinatown Mall. The team was trained by Marie Tan and Jeffrey Lock.
