The Seniors' Intersection Basketball Tournament, organized by the CKSC Seniors’ Committee, culminated with an exciting championship game last September 30 at the gymnasium of the main campus. Mighty3 (IV-3) and Exorsix (IV-6) earned the right to meet each other after a series of matches involving the nine sections in  one of the most-awaited events of the graduating class.

The teams were initially divided into groups of three, with group 1 composed of Dioscuri (IV-1), Mighty3 (IV-3), and Slitherin’ Viper (IV-5), group 2 had Visendos (IV-2), Sevengers (IV-7), and Pr8torians (IV-8), while group 3 had Fouruof (IV-4), Exorsix (IV-6), and Arritheix (IV-9). After topping their respective brackets, Mighty3 (IV-3), Exorsix (IV-6), and Sevengers (IV-7) moved on to the single round semifinals.

Mighty3 (IV-3) starrted the semis by shocking Sevengers (IV-7), 70-58, behind the exploits of Garwynn Ong who made 34 points. Exorsix (IV-6) added to Sevengers’ woes by handing them a second straight loss, 63-43, despite 18 points from Prince Runako Tan. With two losses in the semifinals, Sevengers settled for the bronze medal in the tournament.

The long wait was finally over as the top two teams clashed during the championship game. Living up to its name, Mighty3 (IV-3) started out strongly during the first quarter. Exorsix (IV-6), however, turned the tables during the second quarter, finishing the half-time slightly ahead, 39-33. Eduard Erick Tan waxed hot throughout the game, scoring a total of 43 points, to lead Exorsix (IV-6) to the coveted title. The final buzzer sounded with Exorsix prevailing, 80-61, and with it, the latter claimed bragging rights as champion of this year’s intersection tournament.

With the boys’ basketball event now part of history, focus shifts to the girls’ volleyball tournament which started last October 2.

Congratulations to the winners of the basketball tournament and good luck to the competitors in the volleyball event.
