Dean Raymond Q. Datuon from School of Education was elected as the Vice President for Internal Affairs (in absentia) of Kalipunan ng mga Nagkakaisang Guro ng Araling Panlipunan (KALINANGAN, Inc.) for 2015-2017 during its 2nd National Conference last August 21-23, 2015 at the National Historical Commission of the Philippines.
The conference was a national gathering of all AP teachers in preparation for the full implementation of K-12 AP Curriculum. Present on behalf of the CKS College were Mrs. Primadona Gelua, Coordinator of AP Junior High School, Ms. Ophalyn M. Reyes, AP Coordinator for Elementary Department, and Ms. Olivia S. Ileto, AP Faculty from the Senior High School Department.
On the first day of the conference, Dr. Romela Cruz, Regional Supervisor of DepEd NCR updated the teachers about the K-12 AP Curriculum during the plenary session. She also demonstrated the various teaching techniques and methods to be used in teaching AP for the K-12. There were also expert AP teachers who discussed the use of primary sources in teaching history, ASEAN Integration, and the latest updates in teaching Asian and World History.
Teaching Demonstration in Economics and History was the highlight of the second day. The AP teachers have seen formula in computing Elasticity of Demand and Supply. On the other hand, an advanced Screening of Antonio Luna Film was the highlight of the third day. The heroism and life of Gen. Luna were explained by Prof. Alvin Campomanes and Marketing Director Ria Limjap provided the AP teachers the highlights of the movie.
Dr. Datuon served as the Master of Ceremonies during the first day of the Conference. He was one of the founding members and Board of Incorporators of Kalinangan. Likewise, he was elected PRO Internal for Private School year 2012-2015.
