HS Alumnus Tops the March 2008 ECE Licensure Exam

Helvin Khen Gonzales Cheng Chu, a high school graduate of CKSC Class 2003 recently tops the March 2008 Electronics and Communications Engineer Licensure Examination. Helvin finished his undergraduate course, B.S. in Electronics and Communications Engineering, with honor, cum laude, at De La Salle University-Manila.

Out of 2,300 examiners, only 823 were able to pass the March 2008 examination given by the Board of Electronics Engineering in the cities of Manila, Baguio and Cebu.

Before taking the exam, Helvin worked as part-time assistant lecturer at DLSU and practicum trainee at Teradyne Phils. Ltd. His research paper is a PC-based DATA STEGANOGRAPHY FOR FM RADIO which is a comparative study on different audio steganography algorithms and proposed and formulated a modified algorithm in the aim of embedding information within audio signals for FM application.

During his study at DLSU, he had been active in various extra-curricular activities like participating in the annual IECEP ECE quiz competition (National Level), IECEP-EMMSC Beat the Bees National Quizzer, etc. He also attended numerous seminars. He is fluent in English, Filipino, Mandarin and Fookienese and knowledgeable in C++, NASM, MATLAB 7.0, Multisim, Eagle, AutoCAD 2004, Xilinx, Microsoft Office application, and basic computer trouble shooting.

Helvin is the second son of Mr. Henry Chu and Mrs. Carmen Gonzales Cheng Chu.
