Recently, CKSC grade school and high school students continue to reap honors both for the school and the country in various international mathematics competition. Students from the public and private schools all over the country were given rigid training and were carefully selected by the Mathematics Trainers’ Guild (MTG).
Dann Julius S. Tan of IV-5 won a gold medal in the 4th International Mathematics Competition (IMC) held in Singapore last July 18-21. The same contest was participated in by Raenelle Ean A. Ngo of 6-A, Bianca Lorraine W. Sing of II-1 and Sammy Chua of IV-5 who won a bronze medal each.
Henry Jefferson Morco, a high school freshman from I-2 won 3rd place in individual category and overall champion in the team category (tying with Bulgaria) in the Po Leung Kuk Primary World Math World Contest held last July 12-16 in Hong Kong. Immediately after, Henry flew to Beijing to compete in the “Hua Luogeng Golden Cup” Youth Math Invitational Competition (Hua Bei Sai) from July 16-20. Not feeling any trace of fatigue and jet lag, he managed to win Individual First Honors (Gold). Matthew S. Ng, a sophomore from II-1, also participated in the said contest and brought home an individual bronze medal.
Nigel Zildjan C. Limsiy of I-2 and Erik Lance D. Astillero of II-1 won a bronze medal each in China Primary Math Olympiad held last August 11 & 12 in Hubei, China.
Ervin Fredrick H. Dy of IV-5 won an individual bronze medal in the Chinese Southeast Mathematical Olympiad held in Longyan City, Fujian China last July 25 to 31. He and Jillian Kristel Sy, also of IV-5, will represent the school and country in another international math competition in Changmai, Thailand this coming October. Here’s hoping for their successful endeavor!
