Last September 18, 2010 (Saturday), Josie Chong of IV-3 and Henry Jefferson Morco of III-1 participated in the Chinese-English Translation Contest jointly organized by the Filipino-Chinese Columnists’ Association and the Philippine Metro Manila Chinese Education Research Center at the Philippine Cultural College. The contest was sponsored by Mr. Cheng Lay.
Twenty two (22) Chinese-Filipino schools participated in the contest. Participating schools are divided into two groups: Those with 1000 or more students are classified under Group A. Schools with less than 1,000 students belong to Group B. Our school, with more than 1,000 students belong to Group A. Group A has a total of 8 participating schools. The contest was divided into three parts: 10 Easy Round Questions with 10 points each, 10 Average Round Questions with 15 points each, and 5 Difficult Round Questions with 20 points each.
Just like the true CKSC spirit, our team initially faltered in the easy round. But having gritty fighting spirit, Henry and Josie were able to focus in the succeeding rounds and eventually improve their overall standing score until they finally took the Second Place.
The two students won certificates, P3,000 cash prize, and a Chinese-English Dictionary.
Their trainer is Mr. Melchor Te.
