Latest Grade School and High School Achievements for November 2011

Last November 2-6, Raenelle Ean Ngo of III-1 and Clyde Wesley Ang of 6-G competed in the 2nd World Mathematics Team Championship held in Beijing, China. More than 400 students from the United States, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Macau, and China participated.

The Philippine delegation is composed 24 students, 12 in the high school level and 12 in the elementary level. At the end of the competition, Raenelle won a silver medal in the individual category (the highest award for the Philippine high school students) and a merit award for the team category. Clyde Wesley won 2 gold medals in both the individual and team categories. Incidentally, Raenelle has been consistently winning first place in Chinese singing contests organized by various organizations, the most recent one being declared as Champion in the contest jointly sponsored by the Chinese embassy and the Federation of Chinese Alumni Associations.

Last November 12, Alyssa Nicole Lim, a fourth year high school student, won First Place in the oratorical contest organized by FEATI University with the theme: “Excellence: The Catalyst For Progress”. Her trainer is Mr. Allan Rey Villaverde. Prior to the contest, Alyssa and the other contestants were given 2 minutes to conceptualize and gather their thoughts.

On November 16, The University of Asia and the Pacific (U A & P) organized its first “Inter-School Math and Science Competition”. Thirteen schools participated in the elimination round. Only the top six schools were chosen for the final round. All throughout the final round, the CKSC Team, composed of Michelle Gan, Richard Milante, and Henry Jefferson Morco (all from IV-1), maintained its lead. Finally, CKSC emerged as Champion.

On November 24, our school sent the same team who competed at U A & P. last November 16 to compete in ALCHEMIA IV, a Science and Mathematics Quiz Bee sponsored by Colegio de San Juan de Letran. 54 teams from 30 schools in Metro Manila participated. At the end of the contest, CKSC emerged as Champion.
On November 28, the same team of Michelle, Richard, and Henry, joined the Caduceus Cup Survivor 2011 at U.P. Diliman. This contest was organized by U.P. Medical Honor Society. 15 teams from different schools in Metro Manila joined this contest. In the end, our again school emerged as Champion. Our students from these last three contests were trained by Mr. Frederick Buiza (Math), Mrs. Cynthia Yap (Physics), Mrs. Venus Marie Llantada (Chemistry), and Mrs. Cristina Monsanto (Biology).

And on November 25, Henry Jefferson Morco joined the Extemporaneous Public Speaking Contest held at UST Auditorium and organized by United Nations Information Center. 18 schools joined but only 5 qualified to the final round. Henry Jefferson Morco, who was just awarded as one of the 10 Outstanding Boy Scouts of the Philippines for 2011, was declared as 2nd Placer at the end of the contest. His trainer was Mrs. Glendora Tiu.
