The Obiena siblings, Ernest John and Emily Jean, made waves by winning medals in two international competitions held last June, 2013.

Ernest John "EJ" Obiena, a high school graduate from batch 2012 and currently a Business Administration sophomore at the Faculty of Business, Arts, and Sciences, won the gold medal in pole vault competition of the 75th Singapore Open with a mark of 4.75 meters, breaking the previous Philippine junior record of 4.54 meters which he himself established during the Philippine National Games last May 28 to June 2 at ULTRA, Pasig City. A week after, on June 29 to 30, he again re-established the mark with a new record of 4.90 meters, a feat that won for him the gold medal in the Hong Kong Inter-City Athletics Challenge at Tseung Kwan O Sports Ground, Hong Kong, China.

Joining EJ in Hong Kong was his younger sister, Emily Jean, who is also into pole vault. Competing in the same athletic meet, the third year high school lass won the silver medal in girls' pole vault event with a mark of 3.0 meters, a performance that also earned for her a slot in the Philippine junior team competing in the 2nd Asian Youth Games this August 18 to 23 at Nanjing, China.

Congratulations and more honors to come!
