Academic Program Innovations
The continued academic expansion of Chiang Kai Shek College was marked by significant program enhancements and leadership transitions in the mid-2000s, reflecting its commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and student development.
In June 2005, the Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (BSCS) program was strengthened through the introduction of two specialized majors: Graphics and Visualization, and Artificial Intelligence. In parallel, the Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT) program expanded its academic pathways with majors in Multimedia, Database, and Net-Centric Programming. These enhancements demonstrated the College’s responsiveness to emerging trends in technology education and its dedication to preparing students for competitive careers in the digital and IT industries.
In June 2007, Dr. Bee Ching U. Ong Kian Koc was formally installed as President of Chiang Kai Shek College, succeeding the retired Mrs. Joan Sy-Cotio. That same year, the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program was granted official recognition by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), effective School Year 2007–2008, further strengthening the institution’s reputation in healthcare and professional education. Additionally, the Bachelor of Science in Information Management was updated and renamed Bachelor of Science in Information Systems, aligning the program with global academic standards in information and technology studies.
The Master of Arts in Education (M.A. Ed.) program received CHED approval, expanding the College’s graduate-level offerings in education, while the Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Restaurant Management (BSHRM) was reopened in School Year 2008–2009. This program was later implemented as a Ladderized Education Program (LEP), providing flexible academic pathways for students pursuing careers in hospitality and tourism management. During this period, the HRM Education Center was also constructed and completed, enhancing the College’s facilities for practical and skills-based training.
In School Year 2009–2010, the Faculty of Business, Arts and Sciences (FBAS) introduced new academic programs, including the Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship (BS Entrep) and the Bachelor of Science in Accounting Technology (BSAct). The BS Entrepreneurship program was later granted government recognition by CHED in May 2013, reinforcing the College’s commitment to business education, innovation, and entrepreneurship development.
With the appointment of Dr. Dory Poa as College President in June 2013, Chiang Kai Shek College continued its trajectory of growth and modernization. Under her leadership, the institution further advanced its academic program development, facility enhancement, and administrative innovation, ensuring the continued delivery of quality education and holistic student development in line with global academic standards.
