Today, Chiang Kai Shek College continues to be recognized for its strong academic programs, cultural heritage, and commitment to holistic student development. Through innovative learning experiences, modern facilities, and a tradition of excellence, CKSC empowers students to become globally competitive professionals and responsible citizens.

Guided by its enduring mission of “Progress Through Education,” Chiang Kai Shek College remains dedicated to transforming lives and shaping future generations through quality education in the Philippines.

The continued growth of Chiang Kai Shek College was marked by significant developments in its leadership and academic programs. On June 15, 1951, the Board of Trustees strengthened the school’s administrative structure through the creation of the Vice-Principal position, appointing Mr. Pao Shih Tien to the role. In 1955, the institution expanded its educational offerings by establishing a Normal School that provided a two-year teacher training program for Chinese educators.

Following the passing of Principal Wong Chun Seng in March 1956, Vice-Principal Pao Shih Tien assumed temporary leadership of the institution. In May of the same year, the Board of Trustees appointed Chairman Yu Khe Thai as Principal, with Mr. Pao Shih Tien continuing as Vice-Principal. The establishment of the Wong Chun Seng Memorial Pre-School in 1958 further strengthened the school’s commitment to early childhood education, offering both nursery and kindergarten programs. On April 29, 1959, Mr. Pao Shih Tien was appointed Principal, succeeding Mr. Yu Khe Thai.

A major milestone was achieved in 1965 when the institution attained college status and launched its first four-year degree program, the Bachelor of Science in Education (BSE), with majors in Chinese Literature and History and General Education. Dr. Pao Shih Tien became the College’s first President, ushering in a new era of academic excellence and higher education.

The College continued to expand its academic offerings with the introduction of the Bachelor of Science in Commerce (BSC) program in 1966, featuring majors in Accounting, Management, Banking, and Finance. In 1968, the opening of the Elementary Department completed the institution’s educational continuum, making Chiang Kai Shek College the first Chinese-Filipino educational institution in the Philippines to offer comprehensive education from kindergarten through college.

A significant transition in Philippine Chinese education occurred in 1976, when all Chinese schools in the country were Filipinized under Presidential Decree No. 176. In compliance with national education policies, Chiang Kai Shek College adopted the prescribed curriculum of the Department of Education, Culture and Sports (DECS), offering the six-year Elementary Education and four-year General Secondary Education programs under English instruction. Chinese Language Arts remained an integral component of the curriculum, preserving the institution’s commitment to promoting Chinese language, culture, and heritage alongside quality Philippine education.

The College continued to strengthen its leadership and academic direction in the years that followed. In June 1979, Dr. Jimmy Su was appointed President of the College, succeeding the retiring Dr. Pao Shih Tien. Following the passing of Chairman Yu Khe Thai in April 1983, Dr. Pao Shih Tien assumed the position of Chairman of the Board of Trustees, providing continued guidance and stability to the institution.

In March 1989, Dr. Jimmy Su retired as president, and the Board of Trustees appointed Mr. Chien Yin Shao as President of the College. His appointment marked another important chapter in the institution’s history, reflecting Chiang Kai Shek College’s enduring commitment to academic excellence, strong leadership, and the continuous development of quality education for future generations.

The academic year 1991–1992 marked a significant milestone in the expansion and modernization of Chiang Kai Shek College’s higher education programs. To better reflect its growing academic offerings, the Collegiate Department was renamed the Faculty of Business, Arts and Sciences (FBAS).

During this period, the College introduced several new degree programs to meet the evolving demands of industry and technology. These included the Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (BSCS), Bachelor of Science in Accountancy (BSA), and Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Restaurant Management (BSHRM). The BSA program replaced the former Bachelor of Science in Commerce (BSC) major in Accounting, while Computer Data Management was added as a new specialization under the BSC program. The Bachelor of Science in Education (BSE) curriculum was also expanded to include majors in Computer Education and Mathematics.

To further support skills development and career readiness, the College launched non-degree programs, including a one-year Certificate in Data Encoding and a two-year Diploma in Software Development. These offerings demonstrated the institution’s commitment to providing relevant, technology-driven education and preparing students for emerging professional opportunities.

The College continued to enhance its business education programs by adding a Marketing major to the BSC curriculum during the 1993–1994 academic year. As academic priorities evolved, the Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Restaurant Management (BSHRM) program was phased out during the 1995–1996 school year.

These developments underscored Chiang Kai Shek College’s dedication to academic excellence, innovation, and the continuous advancement of its educational programs to meet the changing needs of students and society.

The institution entered a new era of leadership and academic growth in 1994 when Mr. Chien Yin Shao retired from his post as President. The Board of Trustees appointed Mrs. Joan Sy-Cotio as Acting President, and after seven months of dedicated service, she was officially named College President. Her leadership marked a period of continued institutional development and educational advancement.

During the 1997–1998 academic year, the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) granted Chiang Kai Shek College approval to establish the Faculty of Graduate Studies (FGS), expanding the institution’s higher education offerings. The graduate school initially offered the Master of Arts in Education (M.A. Ed.) with specializations in Administration and Supervision, Teaching, and Computer Education, as well as the Master of Business Administration (MBA). This milestone strengthened the College’s commitment to lifelong learning, professional development, and academic excellence.

To support its growing student population and academic programs, construction of a modern 10-story college building along Narra Street commenced during the second semester of the same academic year. In October 1999, the new academic facility was formally inaugurated, with former Vice President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo serving as the guest of honor. The building subsequently became the home of the Faculty of Business, Arts and Sciences (FBAS) and the Faculty of Graduate Studies.

The College continued to expand its technology-focused programs in response to emerging industry demands. During Academic Year 2000–2001, CHED granted permits for the Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT) and Bachelor of Science in Information Management (BSIM) programs. Both degree programs received official recognition from CHED in June 2002, further enhancing the institution’s reputation for delivering relevant and future-ready education.

In September 2003, the Board of Trustees approved the establishment of the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program, leading to the opening of the School of Nursing during the 2004–2005 academic year. In the same year, the School of Teacher Education introduced Teaching Chinese as a Second Language as a specialization under the Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSE) program. Offered in partnership with Fujian Normal University, this innovative program reinforced the College’s commitment to cultural education, international academic collaboration, and the preservation of the Chinese language and heritage.

These milestones reflect Chiang Kai Shek College’s enduring dedication to academic excellence, program innovation, educational leadership, and the holistic development of students in an increasingly globalized world.

The continued academic expansion of Chiang Kai Shek College was marked by significant program enhancements and leadership transitions in the mid-2000s, reflecting its commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and student development.

In June 2005, the Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (BSCS) program was strengthened through the introduction of two specialized majors: Graphics and Visualization, and Artificial Intelligence. In parallel, the Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT) program expanded its academic pathways with majors in Multimedia, Database, and Net-Centric Programming. These enhancements demonstrated the College’s responsiveness to emerging trends in technology education and its dedication to preparing students for competitive careers in the digital and IT industries.

In June 2007, Dr. Bee Ching U. Ong Kian Koc was formally installed as President of Chiang Kai Shek College, succeeding the retired Mrs. Joan Sy-Cotio. That same year, the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program was granted official recognition by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), effective School Year 2007–2008, further strengthening the institution’s reputation in healthcare and professional education. Additionally, the Bachelor of Science in Information Management was updated and renamed Bachelor of Science in Information Systems, aligning the program with global academic standards in information and technology studies.

The Master of Arts in Education (M.A. Ed.) program received CHED approval, expanding the College’s graduate-level offerings in education, while the Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Restaurant Management (BSHRM) was reopened in School Year 2008–2009. This program was later implemented as a Ladderized Education Program (LEP), providing flexible academic pathways for students pursuing careers in hospitality and tourism management. During this period, the HRM Education Center was also constructed and completed, enhancing the College’s facilities for practical and skills-based training.

In School Year 2009–2010, the Faculty of Business, Arts and Sciences (FBAS) introduced new academic programs, including the Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship (BS Entrep) and the Bachelor of Science in Accounting Technology (BSAct). The BS Entrepreneurship program was later granted government recognition by CHED in May 2013, reinforcing the College’s commitment to business education, innovation, and entrepreneurship development.

With the appointment of Dr. Dory Poa as College President in June 2013, Chiang Kai Shek College continued its trajectory of growth and modernization. Under her leadership, the institution further advanced its academic program development, facility enhancement, and administrative innovation, ensuring the continued delivery of quality education and holistic student development in line with global academic standards.
