Aldric Cristoval Reyes, the valedictorian of our high school English Instruction for Class 2010, topped the University of the Philippines College Admission Test (UPCAT) for the School Year (SY) 2010-2011.

Aldric, who had won various international, national, and regional contests for Chiang Kai Shek College, including being declared Champion in Physics in the 7TH NATIONAL SCIENCE QUEST, held last February, 2010 in Tabaco, Albay, took the UPCAT last August 1, 2009. Aldric placed 1st out of 67,806 examinees. Only 12,550 passed the test throughout the Philippines.

The Orientation and Awarding of the Oblation Scholars was held on August 2, 2010 at the UP Diliman Executive Guest House, the official residence of the UP President, Dr. Emerlinda Roman.

During the awarding ceremony, a video presentation was shown featuring the Top 51 Oblation scholars and their respective high schools from where they graduated from. Usually, only the top 50 were chosen but for this school year, there was a tie on the 50th place.

Before the awarding of certificates of scholarship, Dr. Florinda Mateo, Assistant Vice President of UP Diliman requested Aldric to stand up and be recognized as the topnotcher of the UPCAT for the SY 2010-2011. Everyone thought that he is a graduate from the Philippine Science High School (27 out of 51 Oblation scholars came from Philippine Science Main Campus). They were extremely surprised when they found out that he came from Chiang Kai Shek College! Aldric is currently taking up INTARMED at the UP College of Medicine in UP Manila.
