Henry Jefferson Morco, who is currently studying at Ateneo De Manila University as a college freshman taking up BS Applied Math, major in Mathematical Finance, took the silver medal in the Asian Pacific Math Olympiad (APMO) last March 13, 2012. The result was released only recently.

The silver medal is the first medal won by the Philippines in this very prestigious contest, which started in 1989, aims to discover math geniuses in Asia Pacific countries. Henry scored 23 points, which was only one point away from winning the gold medal. A gold medal requires a minimum of 24 points. A silver must have at least 18 points while a bronze, 12 points.

Students from Philippine Science High School-Diliman, St Jude Catholic School, etc. won bronze medal and honorable mention certificates.

Dr. Filma Brawner, director of Science Education Institute (SEI) of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) said: “I congratulate all our students who represented us for winning silver and bronze medals respectively. This is what we emphasize when we support our students in these kinds of competitions.

本院二○○六年度校友李慈仁(Karen Noelle C. Dy)去年三月以cum laude畢業菲聖道頓瑪示大學(University of Santo Tomas) 工業工程系，榮獲工業工程學士學位(Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering)，十一月再以第九名優異成績通過菲工業工程工程師資格認證會(Philippine Institute of Industrial Engineers, Inc. Industrial Engineering Certification Board)會考，證明其真才實學，而非浪得虛名。
