There were many reasons for Chiang Kai Shek College to be proud of its students.
Last September 7, 2013, Trisha Danielle Sia of 4-B participated in the “Ang Kabataan sa Kanyang Pangarap” On-the Spot Drawing and Painting Contest sponsored by the TNK (Templo ng Katotohanan) Youth Center, in cooperation with the Intramuros Administration, held in Fort Santiago, Intramuros, Manila. Participants were private and public school students and out of school youths. Trisha bested all contestants in category B (8-11 years old) and was the recipient of a trophy, a certificate, and cash prize.
Prayer really works! Three CKSC pupils from CKSC had their prayers answered when they won in the annual competition “Try Prayer, It Works! 2013” sponsored by the Holy Cross Family Ministries. The contest was open to all grade 4 up to 4th year high school students. It was divided into three categories namely: Art, Prose, and Poetry. With the grade school department joining the contest, CKSC won in all three levels, namely: Lance Riley Ong F. Tan for Poetry, Claire A. Ong for Art, and Michael Benjamin Morco for Prose. The awards were presented last October 8, 2013 at the Pope Pius XII Catholic Center in Paco, Manila. Each winner received PhP5,000 cash prize, a trophy, and a certificate. Coordinators for this contest were Mrs. Jennifer Pablo, Ms. Shirwil Gangan and Mrs. Arlene Cammayo.
Don Russel Hao Lim of Grade 6-C emerged 1st Runner-up in the 4th annual Spelling Contest sponsored by the Manila Downtown YMCA Youth Club, held last October 19, 2013 at the auditorium of the Manila Downtown YMCA Building. He received a medal, a certificate and three thousand pesos cash. Erienne Hannah Cheng and Timothy Bryan Wong were also participants in the contest. They were trained by Mrs. Jennifer Pablo, Mrs. Joycelyn Sia, Mrs. Janelle Ong, and Mr. Joe Verzosa.

Last January 17, CKSC’s team, consisting of Chinarah Agatha Tayamora (IV-1), Kathleen Ngo (IV-1), Erica Blanch Yu (Gr. 9-1), and Erika Chan (Gr. 9-1) emerged first runner-up in the 7th Grace Christian College- English Proficiency Interschool Competition. The contest consisted of written quiz bee about vocabulary, spelling, grammar, literature, and reading comprehension. The second part of the contest was extemporaneous. The team was awarded bronze medal for the written quiz bee and trophy for first runner-up overall. There were thirty two (32) contestants from eight (8) private schools in Manila and Quezon City. Trained by Mrs. Brenda R. Ong, the members of the team were able to prove their prowess in English.
Congratulations also to the team of Justine Kim Hong (IV-1), Justine Anjelica Rodriguez (IV-1), and Hannah Go (IV-1) for emerging champion in the team category in the Girls’ Interscholastic Math Competition held at De La Salle Greenhills last January 17, 2014. In the individual category, Justine Anjelica Rodriguez won first place for Geometry, and Hannah Go won second place for Trigonometry. They were trained by Mrs. Monnette E. Defeo. Other participating schools were St. Stephen’s High School (second place), Philippine Cultural College (3rd place), Angelicum College, Grace Christian College, Miriam College, St. Paul University of Quezon City, St. Theresa’s College, Holy Spirit School, and De La Salle Zobel.
The CKSC swimming team, collectively known as the Aquadragons, hauled medals during the Invitational Swim Meet organized by St. Jude Catholic School last January 19, 2014 at the Rizal Memorial Swimming Pool Complex. Mark D. Wei (G8-6) won the gold medal in 50m butterfly. Nathan Myles U. Lim (G9-7), Charles Stepven S. Lin (G9-1), Carliano Alston Tan (G9-5) joined Mark Wei in winning the gold medal in the 4x50m medley relay (13 to 14 years old). Jbmond Emmanuel D. Lim (3-F) won the gold medal in 50m butterfly, and silver medals in 50m backstroke and 50m freestyle. Mishka C. Sy (3-C) took five silver medals for 50m butterfly, 50m backstroke, 50m breaststroke, 50m freestyle, and 100m freestyle. Last but not least, Alana Rae R. Alarcon (IV-5) took the silver medal in 50m breaststroke and the bronze medal in the 100m breaststroke.
