The Chiang Kai Shek College (CKS College) Grade School English (GSE) Instruction Math Department teachers organized an inter-section competition for Grade 2 students on December 18, 2014, at the CKS College Ching Ban Lee Hall.

Grade 2 students went through an elimination process on December 4, 2014, with a written examination comprising ten problems. Each section yielded top four scorers to compete on the event. The section representatives were divided into two teams, who matched wits in the final round's four-part spoken examinations featuring problems with 15-second, 30-second, and one-minute time limits. Certified grade school mathletes who have represented CKS College in various regional, national, and international math competitions served as judges and team leaders for the second-graders.

The winners for the individual category are:

1. Aizen Po (2-D), Gold
2. Sasha Athena Sy (2-A), Silver
3. Hanz Christian Yu, (2-D), Bronze

The winners for the team category are: 

1. Team D2, Aizen Po and Hanz Christian Yu (2-D), Gold
2. Team C1, Jayson Wu and Julie Rayne Waniwan (2-C), Silver
3. Team B2, Keane Lohongko and Aaron Chua (2-B), Bronze

This event, parallel to the prestigious annual Metrobank-MTAP-DepEd Math Challenge competion in which CKS College math trainees participate, was designed to develop the students' appreciation for mathematics and to strive for higher academic goals through friendly competition. The activities also give young students a glimpse of what it's like to compete like the school's math competition representatives.

The GSE Math Department is proud of all Grade 2 students who participated in the contest, with which it hopes to bring mathematics to greater heights and prominence.
