Orientation For Class Officers And Parents Held

The High School Discipline Office gathered all class officers from both English and Chinese instructions for an orientation seminar at the CKSC Little Theater last June 29. The event  was aimed at guiding the class officers on their duties and responsibilities, reinforcing peer classroom management, and clarifying issues that were encountered in previous school years.

Mrs. Sun Ten Choa led the conduct of the activity and was assisted by her assistant heads, Lety Ching and Wai Lin Sing, Discipline Officers Dexter Te and Michael Marc Chua. Together, they took turns explaining the rudiments of being a class officer and identifying qualities of an ideal leader.

The program was short and simple, but it equipped the class officers in attendance with more skills to perform their duties.

The following Saturday, it was the turn of the Guidance and Counseling Services Office to hold an orientation, this time for more than one hundred parents of high school freshmen and transferees. Cynthia Isidro, the head of said office, organized the event, with Annie de Vera Gonzales serving as master of ceremony. The supervisors of both English and Chinese instructions explained their grading system and methodologies used to teach the contents of each subject area. The Discipline Office reiterated policies enforced by the department and requested the parents to cooperate in the implementation of such rules and regulations. The Guidance Office detailed the various services rendered for the mental, psychological, and moral well-being of the students.

Members of the CKSC Management Committee were also present to answer questions during the open forum, including College President Dr. Dory Poa, Director for English Academic Instruction Hilario Tan, Director for Developmental Studies Felisa Dy, Director for Student Life Judelio Yap, and Senior Vice President Carmelita Espino who delivered the remarks formally closing the event.
