Ballet Dancer, Girl Scout Reap Laurels

Two CKSC students, Kyla Yasmeen Ong and Cara Abigail Co, gave honor to the school by shining in their respective extra-curricular activities.

Kyla Yasmeen Ong, a grade 5 student, joined the Halili Cruz School of Ballet team which competed in the 15th Asia-Pacific Dance Competition hosted by the Philippines at Resorts World Manila last July 19 to 21, 2013. The event was conducted by the Commonwealth Society of Teachers of Dancing (CSTD), an 80-year old international dance society providing examinations in all major dance disciplines throughout Australia and the Asia-Pacific Region.

Kyla competed in the aged 12 and under category where she won the following awards with her teammates: Overall Champion for the Philippines, 1st prize in Lyrical Troupe and Demi Character Troupe, and 2nd Prize in Classical Troupe and Modern Ensemble.

In another development, high school senior student Cara Abigail Co was elected secretary of the Manila Girl Scout Council's Senior Planning Board (SPB) for School Year 2013-2014. She was voted to the said post, the third highest in the board's hierarchy, by one hundred and thirty-six girl scouts from thirty-one public and private schools in Manila during the annual SPB Convention at Araullo High School last July 6. The last time a CKSC girl scout took a slot in the Senior Planning Board was in 2007 with Chief Girl Scout medalist Ervina Suzette Tan as vice-chairman.

Congratulations, Kyla and Cara!
