Here are some fascinating facts about the game of Chess (TheChessWorld.com):
- The number of possible unique chess games is much greater than the number of electrons in the universe.
- There are over 9 million different possible positions after three moves each. There are over 318 billion different possible positions after four moves each.
- The word “Checkmate” in Chess comes from the Persian phrase “Shah Mat,” which means “the King is dead.”

- Chess is often cited by psychologists as an effective way to improve memory function. Also allowing the mind to solve complex problems and work through ideas. Some contend that it can increase one’s intelligence. It has been shown to improve children’s grades, along with other positive effects.
Playing chess helps develop perspective, improve memory, deepen focus, and elevate creativity, among others.
Enroll now in the CKS Sports Development Office’s Online Chess Class. There are different levels of classes for different types of chess players—whether beginner, intermediate, or advanced. Classes shall be conducted Wednesdays to Fridays, 4:30PM to 6:15PM, starting March 16, and will run until April 22.
This class can be taken in lieu of MAPEH classes for SY 2021-2022.

Join the CKS Language Center's new Mandarin basic level group class for only 5,250 Pesos! This online short course is perfect for students with minimal background in the target language.
Classes will be conducted every Saturday starting March 05, 2022 from 8:30 to 11:30AM, for a total of 30 live lecture hours divided into 10 sessions.
All short courses focus on conversational language skills taught using business related topics. Open to 16 years of age and above. Classes will be taught via Zoom or Google Meet.
Registration is open until March 02, 2022. Enrollment is on a first come first serve basis. Limited slots only.
Payment can be made through bank deposit (AUB or BDO). For contactless payment, online transfers are also accepted.
