Chiang Kai Shek College Reviving Up for Free "Legalizing Business" Seminar


The Narra campus of Chiang Kai Shek College is a-buzz with preparations for the seminar "Legalizing Business". The two-day seminar, to be held on November 24 and 25, is made possible through the support of Metrobank Foundation. The seminar aims to help potential and actual Filipino-chinese entrepreneurs by providing useful information and tips on starting a business or registering it.

The seminar will cover the following topics: Legal Environment, Business Registration and Taxation, Labor Laws and Employment Standards, and Laws on Persons, Status, Residency and Immigration. To maximize benefits and learning from the seminar, the discussion of these topics will be in two languages: English and Mandarin.

Chinese migrants and Filipino-chinese currently engaged in business or planning to start one soon, are urged to sttend the seminar. The free seminar will also give the participants a seminar kit, a certificate of participation, and free meals/snacks.

Latest Student Achievements of the High School English Instruction


The High School English Instruction of our College ended the First Semester of School Year 2011-2012 with a significant number of student achievements.
In August, 3 seniors: Henry Jefferson Morco, Michelle Gan, and Richard Milante, won 1st Runner-Up in the Pro Chem: Inter High School Quiz Bee Contest organized by UP Manila College of Pharmacy; Michelle Gan, Richard Milante, and Raenelle Ean Ngo, our junior student, were Champions in the Bio Science Quiz Bee sponsored by UP Molecular Biology and Biotechnology Society; Henry Jefferson Morco was declared Champion and Top Scorer in the 12th DLSU Chemistry Challenge organized by DLSU-COS Chemistry Department, Kathleen Ngo, Reginald Hong, and Kristine Ang, all sophomore students won 3rd Place in the Tagis-Talino sponsored by Elizabeth Seton High School; and Henry Morco, Michelle Gan, Richard Milante, and Winny Clarabelle Manlim, all senior students, won 1st Runner-Up in the Jude

Henry is one of the most accomplished students of our College, having won numerous awards both national and international in various aspects of Science, Mathematics, English and Chinese languages. To cite a few, he was Bronze Medalist in the 52nd International Mathematical Olympiad held in Amsterdam, the Netherlands last July, 2011 and obtained the highest score from the Philippine team; he got Honorable Mention Award in the 51st International Mathematical Olympiad held in Astana, Kazakhstan in July, 2010; he was a Perfect Score Awardee in 2009 and a recipient of the Certificate of High Distinction in 2009 and 2010 Rio Tinto Big Science Competition in Australia; he was a National Champion in the 7th National Science Quest organized by the Department of Education and Association of Science Educators in the Philippines held in Tabaco, Albay in 2009; he was Second Prize Winner in Essay Writing in the Reader’s Digest Philippine National Pen Awards; Second Prize Winner in the 2006 Universal Postal Union 35th International Letter Writing Competition for Young People; and Second Placer in the Chinese to English Translation Contest sponsored by the Filipino-Chinese Writers’ Guild.

Grade School Department Student Achievers at the End of the First Semester


Internationally, Clyde Wesley Ang of 6-G and Terrence Brian Tsai of 6-A won numerous gold, silver, and bronze medals in the Asia-Pacific Mathematical Olympiad for Primary Schools held in Singapore last May, the Po Leung Kuk Primary World Mathematics Competition in Hong Kong last July, the International Mathematics Competition held in Singapore last July-August, and the 8th International Math & Science Olympiad held in Naga City last September; Kyla Yasmeen Ong of 3-G also won First and Second Place Slots in the Modern Dance, Demi Character, and Classical Ballet (All Team Division) in the 13th Asia Pacific Dance Competition held in Bangkok, Thailand last July.

CKSC Students Shine in Various International Mathematics Competition


On May 28, 2011, Clyde Wesley S. Ang, a grade six pupil won a Gold Medal in the Asia Pacific Mathematical Olympiad for Primary Schools in Singapore. Aside from mathematics, Clyde is also interested in science and has actually enrolled in the Special Science Training of the Grade School English Department.
From July 13-17, 2011, Andrew Brandon L. Ong, a high school freshman, won Second Runner-Up in the Team Category while Clyde Wesley S. Ang won Second Class Honor for Individual Category in the 14th Pol Leung Kuk Primary Mathematics World Contest in Hong Kong. Aside from mathematics, Brandon has won many international and national competitions in drawing, the most recent being a gold medalist in a Taiwan drawing contest.
