August 2021 Taekwondo Class


Taekwondo is a recognized Olympic sport that not only builds strength, stamina and flexibility, but also greatly improves one’s overall fitness and well-being.  Taekwondo also provides many other advantages such as learning self-discipline, competitive awareness, social skills and much more. Here are some additional benefits of learning taekwondo.

August 2021 Wushu Class


"Wushu" is the Chinese term for "martial arts" (武 "Wu" = military or martial, 術 "Shu" = art). It was developed in 1949 in an effort to standardize the practice of traditional Chinese martial arts. Training in wushu offers various health and fitness benefits:

  1. Strength – The many stances of wushu build leg and core muscle strength and the necessity of holding poses while training builds strong stabilizing muscles.
  2. Flexibility – Wushu practice builds all around flexibility. It helps the ff. get a good stretch: the hamstrings, calf muscles, hips, chest, back, arms, shoulders, wrist, and ankles.
  3. Balance – Balance is developed by standing exercises on one leg as well as learning how to find one’s center so that even when performing quick travelling movements, he never loses his balance.
  4. Coordination – Hand/ Eye coordination is an important skill that both children and adults can benefit from.
  5. Stamina – Stamina suggests a strong mind able to withstand extreme stress without buckling under.
  6. Reflexes – Reflexes develop as a natural result of strength and coordination. One can move quickly if the need arises.
  7. Body Awareness – The mind is aware of what the body is doing and can direct it.

August 2021 Yoga Class


YOGA has many benefits for young people.
 
1. Yoga helps in managing anxiety and stress through breathing exercises and relaxation techniques.

7. Yoga teaches discipline and reduces impulsivity. Yoga can reduce challenging behaviors by providing a physical outlet for expressing oneself. It also teaches discipline, as Yoga practitioners work on clearing their minds and perfecting their poses.
