Grade School Students Win in MTAP Contest

Congratulations to CKS grade school for winning in the 2015 Metrobank-MTAP-DepEd Math Challenge.
The Division level competition was held at Philippine Academy of Sakya last February 3. During the said contest, the grade 1 team of Andrew C. Lim Un (1E), Josh C. Gaveriel (1H), and Raphael Jobnavent Herrea (1I) won 2nd Place in the team competition. Their trainer was Mrs. Merle Sondia. Similarly, the grade 5 team of Patricia Angelica P. Tan (5A), Carlos Miguel Legaspi, Jr. (5A), and Richelle Jasmine L. Sy (5A) also bagged 2nd Place in the team competition. Their trainer was Mrs. Jennifer C. Mislang.
The Private Sectoral level competition was held a week after at NotreDame of Greater Manila. Again, the grade 1 team of Andrew C. Lim Un (1E), Josh C. Gaveriel (1H), and Raphael Jobnavent Herrea (1I) was victorious by copping 3rd Place in the team competition. They were again trained by Mrs. Merle Sondia.



Chiang Kai Shek College (CKSC) routed NCAA champion San Beda-A, 101-76, on Sunday to retain the Metro Manila Basketball League (MMBL) Division 1 crown at the San Beda gym. The Blue Dragons successfully defended its MMBL crown in trouncing the Red Cubs before heading to the National Basketball Training Center (NBTC) League where they will defend the national crown. CKSC and San Beda already qualified for the NBTC League where they will battle against winners of the regional tournaments.
In the Division 1 battle-for-third, Hope Christian High School won via walkover against Ateneo-B. San Beda-B downed National University-A, 85-76, to win the Division 2 crown while Colegio San Benildo-Rizal beat Manila Patriotic School, 85-81, for the Division 3 title. La Salle College-Antipolo won over NU-B, 77-63, in the Division 4 championship.
Terence Brian Tsai bagged the individual gold medal during the 6th International Young Mathematicians’ Convention (IYMC) held in Lucknow, India last December 2 to 5, 2014. He also won the gold medal in the team
Patricia Angelica Tan (Gr. 5-A) won a gold medal in the individual category, a trophy for "Overall High Performance", and a bronze medal for being part of the Philippine team that won 2nd Runner-Up in the team competition during the Malaysia International Math Olympiad Competition (MIMO) last November 22-23, 2014. The MIMO Competition had 816 participants from China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Taiwan and Thailand.
Ryan Jericho Sy (Gr. 7-1) won the bronze medal in the "5th Annual Search for the Little Math Wizard" held last November 29 at the University of the Philippines Diliman. He was trained for the competition by Mrs. Jennifer C. Mislang.
