CKSC Dominates Water Cube Cup Philippine Eliminations


The 2013 "Water Cube Cup" Overseas Chinese Youth Singing Competition - Philippine Elimination Round was held last June 23 at the auditorium of the Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Incorporated. Now on its second year, CKSC alumni and students swept the top five places in the competition.

Dean Kyle Ang (HS Batch 2012) won first prize. Vincent Su (HS Batch 2011) took second prize, while Sherine Ann Koa (HS Batch 2008) bagged the third prize. Rounding up the top five were Jimmy Chung (HS Batch 2008 and FBAS Batch 2012), fourth prize winner, and Mary Grace Khu (HS Batch 2011 and FBAS Accountancy student), fifth prize winner.

Speed Reading Course Offered At CKSC


The Professional Skills Enrichment Center, Incorporated (PROSEC) is now offering Speed Reading Courses for CKSC Students!

The programs are designed to break wrong reading habits. Reading speed is increased through eye-brain coordination. A person learns to use his finger as guide and pacer and the eyes are trained to follow it. With PROSEC Speed Reading, there's no need for expensive and cumbersome equipment. All one need to succeed is a positive attitude and the determination to learn through practice.  On advance module, a person reads a full-length book in 20 minutes. By the last module, a student will have experienced an increase in reading speed by at least 6.5 times, and have improved comprehension and retention by an average of 10 to 12%.

Orientation For Class Officers And Parents Held


The High School Discipline Office gathered all class officers from both English and Chinese instructions for an orientation seminar at the CKSC Little Theater last June 29. The event  was aimed at guiding the class officers on their duties and responsibilities, reinforcing peer classroom management, and clarifying issues that were encountered in previous school years.

Mrs. Sun Ten Choa led the conduct of the activity and was assisted by her assistant heads, Lety Ching and Wai Lin Sing, Discipline Officers Dexter Te and Michael Marc Chua. Together, they took turns explaining the rudiments of being a class officer and identifying qualities of an ideal leader.

Math Whiz Kids Triumph In Bulgaria


CKSC high school students Clyde Wesley Ang and Andrew Brandon Ong joined the Philippine team that competed in the Bulgaria International Mathematics Competition last June 30 to July 5 at Burgas, Bulgaria in Europe.

Almost six hundred participants from twenty-nine countries, including the Philippines, competed in the event.

Clyde Wesley Ang won the gold medal in the individual contest. He was also part of the Philippine team that captured the gold medal in the team competition and emerged first runner-up in the group competition.

Obiena Siblings Reap Medals At International Athletic Meets


The Obiena siblings, Ernest John and Emily Jean, made waves by winning medals in two international competitions held last June, 2013.

Ernest John "EJ" Obiena, a high school graduate from batch 2012 and currently a Business Administration sophomore at the Faculty of Business, Arts, and Sciences, won the gold medal in pole vault competition of the 75th Singapore Open with a mark of 4.75 meters, breaking the previous Philippine junior record of 4.54 meters which he himself established during the Philippine National Games last May 28 to June 2 at ULTRA, Pasig City. A week after, on June 29 to 30, he again re-established the mark with a new record of 4.90 meters, a feat that won for him the gold medal in the Hong Kong Inter-City Athletics Challenge at Tseung Kwan O Sports Ground, Hong Kong, China.

Girls Basketball Team Members Join National Squad, Win Bronze Medal


Four CKSC students were members of the Philippine girls' basketball team that competed and won the bronze medal in the 5th ASEAN School Games last June 22 to 30 at Hanoi, Vietnam.  The triumphant lasses were Je-Anne Camelo, Wichell Kho, Ria Joy Nabalan, and Pamela Andree Payac.

FBAS Student Council, Student Organization Officers Sworn In


The newly-elected officers of the Student Executive Council (SEC) and other student organizations in the Faculty of Business, Arts, and Sciences (FBAS) were officially sworn into office last July 1 in a program held at the 7th floor of the CKSC Narra Campus.

Senior Vice President Mrs Carmelita Espino delivered an inspirational message focused on the duties, responsibilities, and traits of a good leader. She reminded the officers to be good role models to their fellow CKSians.
